Board votes to strip psychiatrist of license

The state medical board voted unanimously last night to revoke the medical license of Dr. Edward M. Daniels, one of the most influential psychiatrists in the Boston area, for allegedly sexually abusing four female patients over the last three decades.
“Indeed, the pattern, nature, extent and severity of misconduct, including the number of patients involved and the harm” to the patients “is so egregious that we can think of no circumstances whereby the respondent could satisfactorily demonstrate that he has been rehabilitated to the extent that he could be entrusted with another license to practice medicine,” read the decision of the Board of Registration in Medicine, according to Alexander Fleming, executive director of the board.
Daniels, 71, of Chestnut Hill, must give any employer or health facility with which he is associated a copy of the decision within 10 days and certify to the board that he has done so, Fleming said…
